Ouch?
I mean it’s too late for that. Games takes 4-5 years to make in many cases so by the time y’all realize that they moved away from what you love, the people internally moved on years earlier - like look at all the key people BioWare had lost in the past few years
And I don’t mean myself. I was not key people at BioWare and me leaving has no effect on the company. I mean David Gaider left, Mike Laidlaw left, Ray and Greg who FOUNDED the studio left, Casey Hudson left & only came back after they pushed out Aaryn Flynn.
There are reasons for these departures and I would sum it up as “EA eroded and corrupted the core culture of what made BioWare great to the point that people started leaving in droves”. That’s how pubs take away the core creative culture of great companies - EA is a succubus
Like EA under Patrick Soderlund basically FORCED everyone to use Frostbite for everything, because they dont wanna pay engine costs to Unreal, and you know who suffers and pays for that? The devs who have to unfuck that dogshit engine that was made to make Battlefield, not RPGs
The exact same game design in Unreal vs. Frostbite will take dozens more engineers, money, and time on FB because of the way its architected and how far behind it is from Unreal (unless you are making BF). There is a reason I chose Unreal Engine 4 as my engine for my next project
